2014 Julliard Masterclasses with Renée Fleming

Renée Fleming, a Juilliard alumna, gave a master class at Juilliard in February 2014. She worked with four voice students and followed up with a brief Q&A period. We can’t take our eyes off her at the best of times, but we especially love the way she approaches coaching.

“We need more headvoice in that pianissimo…”

With Raquel González and Bretton Brown performing Tatiana’s letter scene (Puskai pogibnu ya!) from Eugine Onegin by Tchaikovsky

“Okay, so, you’re not sounding very timid; you’re sounding pretty sure of yourself…”

With Pureum Jo and Daniel Fung performing Deh vieni, non tadar from Le Nozze di Figaro by Mozart

“Find it in a small place, and then let it blossom…”

With Hyesang Park (soprano) and Bretton Brown (piano) singing Ah Non Credea – Ah Non Giunge from La Sonnambula by Bellini

“Think of having a resonance crescendo instead of a volume crescendo”

With Miles Mykkanen (tenor) and Dimitri Dover (piano) singing Lensky’ Aria (Kuda, kuda kuda vi udalilis) from Eugine Onegin by Tchaikovsky
